WAM Dubai, July 6th, 2011 (WAM)-- Awareness and community service team of Public Health Services Department at Dubai Municipality has recently organized a social initiative entitled "Together we work," paying a visit to Desert Group Inc, which employed a group of people with special needs.
The visit was aimed at communicating with the community in various categories and classes and see their efforts and achievements.
A DG official welcomed this initiative, which invests capabilities and skills of people with particular disabilities. The main objective of the company is educating this group on how to conserve water resources, environment and different methods of planting.
The team presented a workshop in the field of public health services such as proper handling of pets, prevention of health risks, medical tests and health counselling. The team was given an opportunity for discussion and positive interaction with DG employees to identify their talents, potential and abilities and to provide health and community support as active individuals in the community.
In December 2006 Desert Group began employing people with varying physical and intellectual disabilities as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts. In the course of two and a half years, 41 employees with disabilities were employed.
