An estimated 12,000 people turned up for the Dubai Walks held under the auspices of the Dubai Sports Council-organised Dubai Pulse Program, around Burj Khalifa on 03 February 2011.

Dubai Walks began with residents assembling near Burj Khalifa before embarking on a designated route around the world’s tallest building. Besides the walk people enjoyed their presence around such a world landmark and they were keen to record these moments by taking photographs, the DSC official added.

The DSC launched its Dubai Pulse Program while setting a target to make residents aware of the ill-effects of unhealthy living. Following a healthy lifestyle can help tackle several ills within society such as blood pressure, diabetes and obesity, remarked Nasser Al Rahma, in-charge of the annual Dubai Pulse Program.

The second edition of the Dubai Pulse Program started off with the Dubai Swims at Al Mamzar Beach in the last quarter of 2010 followed by a Day of Physical Activity held in the Hatta region last month. The program still has Dubai Bikes and Dubai Runs as part of the second edition.

In addition, the DSC will be hosting other sub-activities like indoor walks in prominent malls in the emirate such as the Burjuman Mall and the Mall of the Emirates during the course of the year.

At least 60 staff from across the Group participated in the 2011 Dubai Pulse. Desert Group was well represented and it was a great way to start the work day. Everyone expressed their enjoyment at being able to participate in the walk and the weather was perfect for the event.
